Yes you could do that with the old 10 and 20 series.... this bloody thing on the other hand...Little flat screwdrivers wedged in then a bit of brute force yank it out or keep breaking it to bits and you'll be fine.
I'd try this one too, but beware of the seal!! It wouldn't be a big or expensive job to replace it anywayUse a set of pliers and gas torch with a small welding tip- heat and pull the clip out gently as you pull it. It'll stop in places but just reheat and go again.
You'd then convert all your implement shaft yokes to 6 spline so you didn't need to turn the tractor stubNot had a chance yet but knowing my heavy handed-ness how would you remove the circlip if the tab was broken?
