John Deere 7230R turbocharger repair ?

Hello,

can turbocharger on there tractors be repaired ? I got one case where VGT part is making problems, it opens and closes by itself and then it makes rattle noises with black smoke.
As it does not have electric VGT motor anymore but it is solved with stupider version with some hydraulic piston or whatever, can this part be repaired somewhere ? Or ordered separately from the turbocharger ?

Price a brand new one first direct from distributors, you might be surprised.

I cannot find anything with JD part number only. Do you have any idea about part number from Borg&Warner or whoever makes it ?

There are a variety of engines in those tractors I believe and there are 2 parts catalogues depending on the tractor serial number. So, with little more information than the model number I looked up a Reman turbocharger which is £1850 or thereabouts. It could be less if your dealer orders it on a stock order and passes on a saving.
Do you have any error codes??

It is year 2012 with 9.0 liter engine. I think it might be this one :

John Deere 7230R black smoke on idle !?

Does anyone have idea what could be the problem here on the video. Why does it change sound and revs on idle ? Tractor is remapped and DPF deleted with company who has done it 100 times. It did have some VGT vane position errors which went after reset in Advisor. It seems like the turbocharger...

Haha, it is made stock but the problem remains. Advisor shows fast moving of VGT part sometimes on idle so that could be the problem but it does not have any errors.

It depends on the peripheral components present in the turbocharger. I would like to recommend and suggest to go through the service manual and customer support in John Deere. You can also go through Mapping and cleaning service providers for John Deere Turbocharger such as Turbo performance. Google it to get more service providers
