My name is Imogen Old, as part of my final year at Harper Adams University I am completing an Honours Research Project on Johne’s disease control within UK dairy systems.

I would really appreciate 10 minutes of your time to complete/share this survey if you are a dairy farmer in the UK.

Thank you very much!
I’m sorry, I haven’t completed the survey as the final questions are loaded to infer a link between Crohnes and Johnes, without an option to disagree.

Exactly the same, did it all until the last 3 questions, so you have ended up with no survey. As far as I am aware, it is a possible link between Johnes and Crohn’s, not a proven link. That is what we were told about 15 years ago and I am not aware of there being any more evidence now than there was then. There are also lots of other potential causes.

Also, would have been useful to explain where we thought Johnes came from in our herd.
We bought in cattle from Ireland after having been assured by their researchers at Teagsc/Moorepark that Ireland was free of Johnes and that their testing was robust.
Couldn't have been further from the truth!
Taken best part of 10 years to sort out the mess, but we're about there now.

Thank you for your feedback on my questionnaire. I apologise for the misunderstanding with regards to questions 25 and 26. The only reason I put the question in is because I have read about a potential link between Johne's and Crohn's by a research study in 2014. Therefore I wanted to see whether farmers were aware of this and if this was a motivational factor for Johne's control. I apologise for the poorly worded question, the word 'potential' should have been included, and this has now been added. For ease of administration, I have left the question in the survey however when I analyse the responses I will include your views on this issue.
Many thanks to all those who have already responded to my survey, this is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Imogen
