J Charnley and Sons? Or something like that. Was a whole article in Classic Tractor about them few years back.

Didn't go to the show that year but this one was on Central Garage stand
Always remember going to show and seeing a big line-up of Marshall tractors on their stand

JWDs had a tilting cab, so you could change the clutch easier.

How many bought them? Any idea how many of those are still in service?

I have seen one at the tractor show Malvern, and Charnleys have the first one they ever built in their museum.

I wonder why they stopped making them, not enough orders or other reasons?

I think they have only built around 20 tractors.

JWD were put together by Charnleys , using Perkins engines and Leyland/Marshall parts bought from the receivers , again.

I think I have recently seen the death reported in some of the tractor mags of one of the Charnley Brothers ?

Would had to got the parts for near nothing. Wonder why they didn’t use the engines as I’m sure there been loads of them left too.

Bet the Perkins didn't sound as good as the 802/804 leyland/Marshall engine

Yes, Will sadly recently died. Bought a few mccormicks through Will at charnleys, always good to deal with and happy to show you round their museum. Had never seen a JWD before then or knew they existed. Apparently there is one somewhere in the Durham area though.
