JXU105 clutch.

i have a 9 year old JXU with 2250hrs on the clock. This summer the clutch started to get a bit jerky and the pedal seemed to be coming up farther than normal before biting. It got to the stage it would take 3 or 4 seconds to engage after changing up a gear, stalling the tractor sometimes if under load. Once the gear has engaged it seams to pull fine then. No problems on the high low selector, it moved up and down on the button with no issues. Also doesn't have an issue in reverse! You can change up gears in reverse without issue (first time I have ever driven a tractor at 40k in reverse) There is a clutch button on the gear stick, which exhibits the same problem. I have tried calibrating the packs iaw the handbook. My local dealer has been out and after testing with laptop etc has said one of the clutch packs has gone u/s.

This probably isn't going to be my workshop job, but I was looking for a bit more info on how the clutch packs and gears are laid out, to gain an understanding of the problem.

Dealer says it's a 2 day split so if I'm changing one pack do I do others at the same time?

Thanks in advance for any info, or pointers to where I can find the info.

Clutch packs are in the front of gearbox for reverse and forward. High - low are in the back of gearbox.
Quite an easy job to split tractor and remove packs.
Sell here to me as she is????

Thanks for the offer but plan is still to fix! More questions, how is the gear box laid out? Are the fwd and reverse clutches acting on the flywheel? Where's does the extra cog for reverse come in? I assumed the reverse gear would be got by bringing in an extra cog on the output of the gearbox? It sounds like the high low are on the output of the gearbox from what you say?

forward reverse are in the front of gearbox accessed from the bell housing . Ring of bolts then pull the two packs out the front.
Gearbox needs removing to do hi-lo. There is an idler gear for reverse to change shaft direction .
Only thing acting on the flywheel is the damper plate which you would need to change when your in there.
Try and get it fixed as soon as possible. Using the tracor with a damaged pack creates alot of heat and the damaged plates wear grooves in the clutch housing.
