Anyone run one? Local dealer has one sitting in his yard and was wondering if it was worth considering in my great feed wagon dilemma?

That k and k looks very similar to RMH @eulb do you think, few extra side lugs to drop in than mine though!

Very similar,I'm sure the front gearbox is the same.

I'm after a rear door in my tub for doing the premix, its going to cost me near £1k,so I thought I may be better off selling my old hi-spec and buying another tub,I emailed HRN and also found one in staffs but never chased things up.

So you run 2 then, we are putting wheat straw through ours, tip a quadrant in in 3 lumps with bucket after 1500kg of grass silage, we are finding that a couple slabs will sit on sides up high, but when straw was put in first and silage on top as suggested by dealer it was lodging much worse is there a better way to mix straw and silage in an RMH or am I missing something. I have pulled side teeth right out and put them right in but have found best chop and least lodging in with them mid way. Should add we have model with front door and elevator.

Just have hispec for calf mixes and use as a spare,I always put straw in 1st with mixer running in 1000rpm hi box then add straights, makes a good mix no long straw and cows eat the lot.

OK so you can change the gearbox speed on the wagon, how do you do that, I really must get a manual, its a great machine but sure we could get more from it, we are getting whole slabs of straw out at times and blades are pretty good too.

Do you not have a handle sticking out at the front just below the weigh display?

If so,in is low and out is high speed.

@eulb I have put it in 1000 this morn with tractor still in 540 and have got a new machine, thanks very much excellent bit of advice, what do you do with round bales not put any through yet.

@KennyO after what I have experienced this morning definitely favour tub mixer, you would of thought it came out a food processor, the best mix yet and straw pulverised and only had it mixing 10 minutes at the very most.

I avoid them.:D

The reason I bought a tub was to use some bales I'd made, not set up for bale feeding so it was best if they were chopped up,we basically unwrapped them (on there end) then cut them half with the shear grab.(y)

Have spotted the one at HRN but it wasn't the one I was refering too. There is one sitting in Alan MacKays yard. However not sure if it is working or not. It looks older than that one at HRN.

What is there to look out for on older machines?

The biggest problem as far as I am aware is the barrel/ tub wearing through which is your reason for looking, other than that all that you can do is turn shaft by hand and check for excessive wear in gearboxes or driveline and ideally run it up, you will know as well as anyone else if it sounds wrong it probably is. Don't take everything I say as gospel as after all I only discovered last night ours has a two speed gearbox;)

Ok cheers, got about 40 rounds this year so I may just bung them in a feeder or chop up with the shear grab, you find chopped in half ok to feed out then!

If you cut them in half before you put them in the tub it speeds up the chopping,I reckon it takes half as long to chop.

I once had a bale nearly come out of the mixer,I dropped it in with the auger running very fast,it centrifuged to the side and I thought is was going to bounce out.
