Kerb

What some people don't seem to be understanding is how the Kerb works.

Yes, the Nov applied stuff will indeed have done a great job of killing what was there. But the problem is that Kerb degenerates rapidly in warmer conditions, and there won't be any residual effect for when any Spring BG germinates in 6 weeks time.

An application now will not only take out the existing BG, but it'll stick around and sort out the March flush, which can often be considerable, especially after a damp winter.

What I'm trying to say is that those who went on in Nov didn't get it wrong, they just won't get the best out of the product.

I did mine back in Nov, it's worked well, but now I may need to put a crawler on to top up the bad/high risk areas. Problem was bg was very big in November and by now I think it would have really struggled for control. Part of the reason was that we'd missed the c-max due to crop stress and then we were passed the cut off for c-max.

Maybe put on a top up of more propyzamide - different brand name to first time. Be cheaper than Crawler. Pondering how much to add to the first full dose. Maybe another half dose.

I did a couple of fields with full rate Astrokerb before Christmas. One has bad annual meadow grass. It is still very much alive, with little bulbing at the root crown. I can't pull the growing point out either. Do I need to follow up with Laser?

it'l kill it

far too early to worry!

How late have no-tillers applied kerb without any issues for the following wheat crop? Has anyone had this problem before?

In the spring following that cold wet Autumn, any failed rape that had Kerb applied before being replanted with various questionable following crops didn't seem to have any issues.
Also the temperature thing is to reduce the breakdown by micro organisms that slow down when soil temperatures get to 8 degrees, you would assume as temps rise during March/April the opposite would be true?!
