Good evening Sir's / Ma'ams,

Enthusiastic and friendly detectorist seeking kind permission to detect on any arable, pasture (any land actually). Am ex-military (25 years) who has now transferred a long interest into a recent hobby and need some kind permissions to detect on. Am not one for parks or beaches as its very modern and there's no 'story' as such and after the last 25 years would like to amble around the countryside enjoying it rather hiding in it. Am very discreet and will ensure any permission remains a secret. Am very animal / land-friendly and recently become a master at rounding up goats in the dark whilst practising my detecting at the stables I volunteer at, I dare say I would make an effective watchdog whilst 'out and about' too.

I am certainly not promising to find the lost treasure of Solomon but I will do my best to find something of interest, ideally something that means something to the owner or land on which it is found and would give me no greater pleasure than to return a lost heirloom. Totally understand there are groups who offer money to detect on land however looks like they need larger areas of 70acres or above, therefore if any farm owners have smaller pieces of land they would like me to look at for them I am more than willing and everything found will be presented at the end of each day.

Goes without saying I am a member of the NCMD and fully insured and will leave the area as I found it (practiced well in the military). Those who have been victims of 'night hawkers' in the past, I can only apologise on their behalf and hope to raise the profile of 'responsible' detecting and nurture some trust back into the hobby.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Kindest Regards

Paul

Just a quick footnote to this:

It goes without saying you will be on my Christmas card list and I will not forget to give Santa a little something for you and the wife / husband / partner, this is not to sell the pitch in any way but for no other reason but to show my appreciation - after all you are showing trust and friendship in allowing the access.

I am more than willing to present myself to be grilled prior to any agreement and would expect it anyway and I will to remove all scrap I find providing its not a WWII tank or something that requires excavating - this I will mark and notify you in case it can cause damage to machinery. Happy to be referred to family and friends if an item is lost and needs recovery.

Happy for you to decide what to do with whatever I find, if you wish that it is shared 50/50 then even better.

Thanks for your time, kind regards

Paul
