We had a week moment bought a new fert spinner probably 3 years ago. It had weigh cells the lot. No one come out to show me whats what. No real problem. But from new when speading some fert . Mostly urea the buzzy would go off and say theres a problem with the flow factor. Also it takes ages for it to get the flow factor right. I watch it and it goes up and down for ages before it settles down. The kuhn man said it could take 600 kg before it gets it right which is either rubbish or the spinner is crap. Kuhn come out in the autumn after another problem and said it needs new actuators. They have come in the dealers and have had a bill for 860 qwid when we should get some of the 5 year warrenty. Now we want to spread fert and the dealer cant get kuhn out to fit them. Now this spinner has spread about 180 ton max. And i dont think its been right from day one. What should we do.

Fitting actuators is a simple task when you know how. Just got to calibrate them. This the dealer should be able to do. If the dealer can’t do this then in my eyes there is something seriously wrong.

I know nothing about the Kuhn machine but isn't there a facility for entering the flow factor manually for each fertiliser so that the machine has a reference from which to start calibrating itself from the hopper weight and rate of emptying relative to forward speed?

Actuators can be ticklish and older ones from both Vicon and Kuhn were not the most reliable, from my experience of Vicon and hearsay about the Kuhn ones. I've had to change both sides on my Vicon but since having the later ones I've had no issues. Eye wateringly expensive, but they would be I suppose and considering the total price of the machine.

Ok guys . Its not ross farm but a small family run business. Probably sell one of these spinners once a year so not that clued up on them . Like i said kuhn come out in the september to look at it. I could probably fit them my self but if its some warrenty left i dont see why i should. I'll nag the dealer again. There pretty laid back to say the least.
