Kuhn or Lely twin rotor rake

Looking at getting a 2nd hand rake around 7 metres . Found a very nice condition Lely and a Kuhn which is not so smart (paint just faded ) . Is the lely hard to get parts for now given they no longer make them and which would be the better machine . I think the lely is a 2009 and the Kuhn 2007 .

We bought a Lely 745 last year and very happy with it. Been told that parts should be no problem so we'll wait and see.

Now then , I'm getting tempted by some deals on a brand spankers but a little bit smaller to make it affordable .
The cheapest is a Massey (fella) at 6.6 metres
In the middle is a 2600 class at 6.8 meters
And the most expensive but only just is a Fendt 801 , a fella again but obviously bigger.
Class seem to be everywhere in these parts but fella not so much , is there much difference in quality between the two to justify the price difference ?

I'm happy with my Massey RK662.

It would be interesting to price up a Fendt rake against a Massey just to see how much more they charge for having a green one!

Make sure whatever you go for has individual rotor lift, unless your fields are square. Some of the smaller rakes are also more fiddly to adjust the width. On the Massey / Fendt you just move a bar into a different hole while it's folded, takes less than 10 seconds.

Hydro width adjustment and separate rotor lift is essential . Don't buy without
None of them have got either at this price point , although the fendt rake would be quicker to adjust width from looking at it and I guess I could very easily adapt them to individual lift by just running another pipe to the rotors and using two spools . I guess with the width I would just set it to the max my baler pick up could comfortably take and leave it at that .
The fendt has cam track adjustment , would that be a big advantage over the claas ? It also has 3.2m rotors vs the claas 2.9m but that will make very little difference in reality , maybe one or two less rows per field .
The Claas does seem to be a bit beefier from just looking at it (appearances can be deceiving !) and has and oil bath cam track rather than just grease .
The Fendt dealer is offering a bit more on the trade in at the moment other than that I'm struggling to decide between them

I have one of the little fella rakes bought on price (but didnt look any lighter or lesser built than the small kuhn in fact it looked stronger) ,but it does the job for me hydraulic adjustment would have been good but more pricey, separate lifting cant decide as ive never used it ,makes decent rows and beats a single rake any day of the week!!!Depends what sort of driver you are regarding build quality

Pottinger not competing on price I'm afraid .
I have a few pottinger machines and while well designed I always find them a bit light in the build department
Pottinger used to be built light but now their rakes are as strong as you'll get. They might be more expensive but they'll have things on them as standard that might not even be an option on some other rakes

A massey 662 is £350 dearer than the fendt green identical rake !

I'm told its the way each brand stocks them

Bought the Claas , think I will get stronger residuals if I ever need to upgrade and I doubt can track setting would ever be needed on my lighter organic crops . Only problem is I can't brag down the pub I'm having a brand new Fendt !
