Kverneland mower bed leak

kverneland 3228 mt. 2013.

Anyone know what stops the oil coming up through the bearings?
One hub leaking so pulled it apart, put new bearings in and still the same.
Noticed there was no seal in the assembly. Checked the parts book and no seal listed. So in theory it's only the 4 bearing seals keeping the oil in which doesn't seem right.

It only leaks when folded vertical with a head of oil behind it. Doesn't leak when in work.

It's just the bearings, we've had to do 2 on our front version of your mower this week. The removable captive nuts that the bearing housing bolts to in the bed have o-rings on them. Some of ours have deformed with heat. Could it be coming out them or the big o -ring?

Thanks. It's not me looking at it wrong then.
Definitely coming through the new bearings.
I'm quite particular about o rings and the like.
Guess I'll just have to open it up and double check it all.

Check for a crack around the bolt holes did one last year and it leaked when we revisited it I noticed a 50mm crack radiating from one of the bolt holes, welded it with a 29.9 and it was fine, owner trades it in May after it had cut 180 acres of silage hay and pasture topping.............................................................

Thanks. Yes I'm well versed in cracked mower beds.
It's definitely coming up through the bearings though.
Interesting that it doesn't leak in work but it's almost running out when folded.
Tempted to swap it with a hub further out that's above oil level when folded

Swap it and see what happens, it's not a big job.
Could be a crack somewhere as said above.

We’ve had a Tarrup and a Kuhn here with cracked beds. Both are the Kuhn type beds. The beds are made out of 3 or 4mm pressed plate which has a dish type of shape in it. Because it’s pressed it’s under stress and prone to cracks. Welding the cracks up is a loosing game as the weld pulls the steel more and another crack eventually appears along the side of the last weld

Did you fit genuine bearings?
That's crossed my mind that genuine have stronger seals?

Non genuine, orangey/ red box, can't remember the brand. Not been on long enough to be sure it's right, but it leaked a lot sitting overnight on a steep sideslope before, and hasn't lost any since. These are the first bearings we've done in 7 years, we seem to be finding a lot of foreign objects this year.

Overfilled with oil? Perhaps the level is supposed to be just below the bearings and it'll be fine when the excess has drained off. Also there are many different types of seals on bearings. Some are designed to be a looser fit to allow for heat expansion, so they could be the wrong spec even though they look the same
