Kverneland swing in ram cover/protector

Hi all,

We've got a new Kverneland LD85 200 5 furrow plough, started using it on Friday and we're getting on really well with it, apart from sometimes when soil drops off the bodies as you turn it over, it falls onto the extended swing in ram and is then squeezed between the cylinder and the aluminium spacers as the ram closes back up. It isn't going to do the ram seal much good having soil forced into it and soil is also pressed under the aluminium spacers. I've been told there is a protector/sleeve kit to go over the ram and keep the soil out but I can't find any more details on it, has anyone seen or heard of such a thing? no doubt we can make something if need be but thought I'd see what the official fix is first.

Cheers

There used to be a rubber bellows that KV used to sell, although they didn’t last too long as I seem to remember. The last time I tried to buy one I was told that they had been discontinued as apparently they caused issues, my only guess can be that if they had a hole in it, soil might get in but not get out. I did make a cover out of a piece of down pipe, cable tied onto the ram which worked ok.

If you never move the width then just get a bit of guttering and jubilee it onto the ram it stops it getting onto the ram but let's any crap dall out if you do change width put a bit of soft rubber on just the same . I'll try to get a picture of mine today

If you put on what kv used to fit it covers the whole thing and keeps dust in which then usually gets in eventually and knackers the seals

I was meaning if the ram is as short as it ever gets use a bit of 4 inch gutter but with my eg it's a memory ram so I've got a soft rubber cover so it can be pulled right in

First pic on es ram is pretty much at that length for 16 inch so used a hard bit of gutter

Second on eg so used soft rubber so I can pull the ram right in and the rubber flexes
