i was going through our lambs for first time yesterday. I've got 4 or 5 that are at heavier weights 45-47 kilo, they are fat in the tail but a bit leaner on the back. ?? Should I just send ? Would be deadweight. They tell me last place they lay fat is on the dock and they're done?, but don't know why they not covered over the back as much as others.

Given where the lamb price is,I'd get them sent in too.

What breeding are they? Different breeds will lay fat down differently. When we ran some Cambridge rams, their lambs would get fat docks without getting much on their loins, presumably from the Clun blood in them.
Every continental breed I've used haven't suffered the same.

Thankyou. Yes I have booked them in for next week. There are only a few that have gone kind of long and rangey- these are the Suffolk ones. Last year I sold all those Suffolk males as big framed stores but want to get them gone this year.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
