lamb export

My export lambs were cancelled for todays kill, because of changes in paper work required to export. But went on Tuesday past instead.
Does anyone know if paper work trail will be sorted for next week or will it take weeks/months

My guess would be that they haven't arranged an Official Veterinarian to complete an export health certificate that would be required to accompany the lamb carcasses. Demand outstrips supply currently. They may have assumed that their onsite OV would be able to do it but this will not be allowed by the Food Standards Agency in most cases. Or perhaps they haven't done any preparation at all.

Has the EHC changed from Jan 1st?

There has been a shortage of OV’s to do export paperwork for live animals for a year or so now, since they introduced a new registration process (& £800 fee I understand). Thankfully one vet from my local practice (begrudgingly) agreed to do it, but lots of practices don’t have an OV now. I assume abattoir vets would have to go through the same process?

Many have but not all. More will do it now that DEFRA foots the bill for training.

I remember reading over two years ago that DEFRA would be recruiting vets to deal with this. Needless to say, the adverts never appeared in the 'Veterinary Record'. This government are forking useless.
