It only gets worse after sundayI was going to put some lambs out but going to wait till tomorrow now.
I have to keep putting them out, but have been hardened off in outside bale pens, ones that have been in sheds can stay in and are just in make a few extra pens. All makes work though.I was going to put some lambs out but going to wait till tomorrow now.
Did you use Shearwell Mac’s?I think I've saved a lot of lambs with macs this year
Be long dead before they get delivered from them, bloody shocking company now, been waiting 2 weeks for heatwave spares and tags, keep saying they are on there way. Be after Easter now i expect.Did you use Shearwell Mac’s?

Given up on them, almost stopped using macs last year because they wouldn’t stay on. Got these now, really pleased , staying on a week, some longer for small lambsDid you use Shearwell Mac’s?
I’ve a neighbour who refuses to scan, he scanned once and when he totalled up his losses at the end of the season it drove him into a depression and he swore he would never scan again, and he hasn’t.I think that's the one big drawback with scanning, it means you can quantify losses. Good on an individual basis, but can lead to broad assumptions on a flock basis.
Only time I know how many lambs I’ve had is when I add them up on the kill sheets….because that’s the only time you are guaranteed to know what you’ve got…I’ve a neighbour who refuses to scan, he scanned once and when he totalled up his losses at the end of the season it drove him into a depression and he swore he would never scan again, and he hasn’t.
Not the point really. Obv going to have some lose the catch or resorb the fetus.I’ve a neighbour who refuses to scan, he scanned once and when he totalled up his losses at the end of the season it drove him into a depression and he swore he would never scan again, and he hasn’t.
I wasn’t defending him, and I agree with your post . That was his take on it not mine. We scan here and I would hate to go into a lambing without a scan. Not the point really. Obv going to have some lose the catch or resorb the fetus.
First 2 years scanning we put off a fair few empty, plenty of them raddled, that would have been kept on, fed and wondering if in lamb. Many that shouldn't have been here anyway that is another story.
Secondly we aren't feeding twins and singles the same ration so again a cost saving. And less chance of prolapse or hung lambs.
And if scanned single, once it's out you can toodle on knowing there's not another one twisted up inside - usually!
got my order from them in 3 daysBe long dead before they get delivered from them, bloody shocking company now, been waiting 2 weeks for heatwave spares and tags, keep saying they are on there way. Be after Easter now i expect.
I havent enough seperate fields to seperate up to be beneficial regards feed, so scanning cost goes to feed instead, makes sence to meI’ve a neighbour who refuses to scan, he scanned once and when he totalled up his losses at the end of the season it drove him into a depression and he swore he would never scan again, and he hasn’t.
Has this year been the return of the MacI think I've saved a lot of lambs with macs this year
