Just wondered if anyone had any rough estimates on the cost of building a lambing shed for 600 ewes. Had a couple of quotes but would like to hear other peoples thoughts?

perhaps the best way to look at it is -what cost will lambing 600 ewes justify

Will lamb 1600 next year but only really have space now for 650 so just looking at options really. Would rather lamb as many as possible at the same time if possible.

if you are going to spend that kind of money make the shed universal not just for sheep it will be there for a long time and you may want to do other things in the future, a twin span or maybe a central span and 2 leanto would be most economical

You not fancy a couple of polly tunnels. Never thought I would be an advocate of indoor lambing but I certainly am now.

Light and airy. Great atmosphere for sheep and people.

Too exposed in my opinion for poly tunnels. The problem is once you have decided what size shed is best, the foundations are to dig and the shed is to put up. Then the internals need paying for and your now up over 100k! And we havnt laid any concrete yet!

why do you need concrete

Passage ways are better off with some concrete I reckon.

Hurricane spec tunnel will stand up to a lot.

You may be looking for a multi use building for lambing, cattle housing or general storage where a shed would be better but if just for lambing then a tunnel is the way forward IMO.
