Lame piglet.

Hi, just after a bit of advice on a lame piglet, he's a Tamworth GOS cross, about 9 weeks old and lame on his front left leg. I think he's gone down a hole or a ditch. I know they are hardy creatures and he's eating and drinking ok, do you think he will heal himself or does he need a vet? I think the stress of being caught to treat him may out way him getting better him self? He is putting weight on it so i suspect it'snot broken. Any advice welcome. Thanks

Well, I would say that if he is weight bearing on his lame leg and is thriving, then he will be likely to recover without veterinary intervention. He may be stiff on it , but as you rightly say , it would stress him quite badly even to catch and examine his leg.

Thanks for commenting, yes he occasionally puts weight on it, but when he stops he dangles it in the air a bit...but yes he can run about and he's eating and drinking and otherwise looking well. I was just reading you can feed them anti inflammatory's that might help him recover quicker.. but I don know how I'll single him out when feeding them
