We have just published our last LAMMA 24 video, a summary of all the pictures and YouTube suggested a video from back in 2017. What a throwback to see the old style LAMMA. It has changed massively and I think for the good.

Does anyone really long for the cold days outside in Peterborough? The NEC must be great for farmers from other coutries flying in. I personally think indoors is great (but then I do also live 30 minutes from the NEC), so might be biased.

What does everyone else think?

2018 I think we went on the first day and at night a storm blew everything away.

I remember being told off for making a joke about the stand selling baler twine being able to get everything fixed double quick with the help of a few farmers. Got proper told off for that.

For viewing full stands of all manor of weird and wonderful bits of agricultural machinery. With many small businesses that could afford the costs to exhibit, Peterborough won hands down. The trade off was it was best to wear thermals. I'd prefer the Lamma of old to the new NEC version. Only benefit to me now is that the NEC is a little bit closer, just a shame many exhibitors either can't justify the cost of going or seriously reduce the size of stands and number of products on show.

Think thats the case with all ag shows now ,20 years ago ,Lincolnshire show was packed with machinery and dealers from all over the country ,you could spend half a day just looking at 5 avenues of machinery ,,I went in 2018 and it was ghost town ,the only stands were dealers from within the county ,one line was taken up with vintage and young farmers floats .
It was quite depressing .

Fair point it will have effected some, but aren’t there more exhibitors now the event is at NEC than there was at Peterborough. So the numbers say different. You could well be right on stand size Though.

There were over 850 exhibitors at Peterborough in 2018.
Only 600 at NEC 2024.

The heyday was at Newark when any small startup could have a stand and promote a product or service on a shoestring.

It was brill at Newark except when weather was against you. Never went to peterborough site tho.
First time back this year myself @ NEC since 2019 & it doesnt disapoint
Its the only scalable sized indoor place in the UK over winter months for such a show now.
If you want lamma outside it has to be in the summer months.

I did a few LAMMA's at Lincoln way back when, and barely missed a Newark one - they were really great for finding those excellent small specialist firms you'd never heard of. I only went to Peterborough once, not a patch on Newark imo. Not been to the NEC yet. Most of it does need to be inside in January - the outside bit at Newark was mostly a consequence of its popularity

I was up there working on my mates stand selling diecast models ,Britain's ,u/h etc they wouldn't let us back in till about 2pm on second day to clear away are stall which had survived the storm,we was in one of them white tents can't remember which one but doors had all blown in . It used to cost about £400 for stand at Peterborough, NEC price starting at £2500 , would have to sell a shed load of models to get that back over the 2days plus staying up there and food, but yes I do enjoy walking around show now in the warm,
