Land Drainage Costs

Looking at getting some proper land drains put into our grass paddocks, what sort of costs would I be looking at? Is it worked out per acre or per m?

Anyone know of Land drainage companies in the North West?

Contractor with a trencher will be around £1.50 per m plus stone. If you do it yourself you will use that much stone there won't be much difference in overall cost

i realy dont know what it costs to dig drains with a 360deg machine, but i know for sure i could do 100meters of trench, excluding stone n pipe for a lot less than £150

When I worked for him we worked all round Manchester,he's not cheap but good.

Personally I would get someone who's experienced,to much plastic pipe is laid badly.

Seen plenty of drains ragged in by people who 'DIY' only to be called in to repair the balls up years later.
No substitute for experience as a good system properly done will last for decades.
Larger jobs the trencher wins hands down and uses less stone. About 6-7£ a metre inc pipe and stone laid by laser trencher.
Word of advice Get it done by a Pro.

Exactly, the number of jobs that we have done that have been made a lot worse because farmers think they're drainage experts is rediculous
