Landside Length

How much longer is it practical to make a rear YL landside in order to help straightness, but not to affect the in and outs and pitch of the plough?

Hello Cordial. I made some up which were 50mm deeper and about 125mm longer than standard. I always run them with the heel on as well. If you put too much weight on the rear of them the plough will not run. You might just need to slot the back hole a tad. Changed the rear one on my RSLD not realising how much had gone off from underneath the boards ploughing sand. Made a bugger of it till I let it down. ‘Nother job on’t list. Build the bottom of the mouldboards up.
RND’s will stand at least 150 on them at the rear.

A new ransomes RND landside is tapered in two directions, from front to back and top to bottom. David Bonning told me that there was one firm casting pattern ones which went much better than others, on checking, he found that they were the only firm making exact replicas. All the others had omitted the tapers.

Made several for RND bodies. You have to put the taper in or they are too thick at the front end. I machined and fabricated them to have exact dimensions in the same locations as originals, only deeper and longer. Works a treat. Ask Howard’s Cousin! He got 2.
This me@no that the horizontal component on the bottom gets wider and deeper to the back As Harry so rightly says.

Hi Mike, I wouldn't know, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you some good advice. How is the situation with the virus with you, are you able to have any matches of are you pretty much !loved down?

We have no matches until Mid august, and of coarse all plowmen are optimists we are hoping we will be able to plow again, but our vaccine roll out is slow we are down to doing the 75 year old people as of next week. But government tells us all of us will be vaccinated by Canada day July 1st so there is hope , This winter because of lock down i have taken my plow apart and built it on a steel table taking every measurement from the table it was interesting. now i am playing with what info i can get to rebuild my plow shares to the optimum but that will be another subject will start fresh with that very soon. As is common saying here stay safe mike
