Lawrence Edwards Supa Pac - bale wrapper "film taper" part

Hi

Does anyone know if it's possible to get parts for a Lawrence Edwards Supa Pac bale wrapper. I'm looking for a tapered plastic holder (called a "film taper") that supports the bottom of the film wrapper. Part "11" in the attached diagram. It also needs a couple of bearings but these are pretty standard. Doesn't seem to be a standard part on other machines either.

Thanks

I think Lawrence Edwards were bought in the 90s so unlikely there's any easy spare parts avalable.
Do you have the part you are trying to source or is it missing? If you do it might be worth putting a photo up on here so people can see if there's anything similar.

Perhaps have a chat with this person:

Thanks. Link looks promising. I've dropped the guy a line. Fingers crossed!

I've a scrapper (thought it said sila-pac...could check)
It has the truncated conical piece you're talking about - bearing was bu66ered years back, but it wrapped thousands with a bit of oil each day.
Where are you?

Or, get someone to turn one up?

Similar to cones fitted to other machines possibly? could be made to fit, angle grinder and welder job, I had one for a while, certainly the motor/solenoid which turns the film cut latch, was made for that machine, managed to run one to earth as old stock, but I think that was it, unfortunately pretty obsolete I would think.

We once had one of them wrappers, ours had metal rather than plastic film tapers. Some of the parts were obsolete 20 years ago as we discovered when the plastic cogs in the tensioner gave up. Ended up fitting a completely different tensioner set up from a volac wrapper to keep it going.

Yes, I think it calls itself a sila-pac as well - not really sure of the difference. Anyway, yes, it's the truncated conical piece. There are two and they fit into either end of the wrapper film roll to hold it. I'll try to send a picture. As the bearings have seized, it's been running by the roll slipping on the conical piece (film taper). This creates some friction so the film doesn't spool out as well as it should.

The bearings are cheap, get a machine shop to copy the cone & buy 4x new bearings from a bearing supplier & press them in to the top & bottom of the cones or you should actually be able to upgrade that system to the newer style wrap holder with the fixed lower cone & spring loaded upper shaft/cone - that full shaft set up was a PITA.
