What a laugh.“All sheep farmers need a professionally run and efficient marketing system to handle their wool and that’s why I firmly believe the British Wool Marketing Board deserves continued support.
we take ours to a collection point, but then we only have two bagsWhat a laugh.
This is March the 6th. I've been trying to get my wool uplifted since at least October. Supposed to be lifted tomorrow , but put back a couple of days again. Last year , lifted in , I think , February. Year before , January , before that , December.
The uplift is getting later and later. Repeated phone calls to theBWMB depot result in precisely nothing happening. You'll be lifted in a fortnight , then another fortnight , then months pass 'til finally we phone them to ask how much are they paying us for storing the wool , and , do they actually want it at all or would they rather we went off looking for another customer to take our wool next year , because if we're annoying them with our wool , we can certainly help them out there.
They then apologise , again. I say , please don't give me any more apologies. Your apologies mean nothing now - actually do something.
I hope the Board is professional and efficient at other points in the chain , because their off farm uplift is lamentable.

We used to have a collection point here and it worked really well , but the haulier contract was awarded to an outside firm years ago and the service became lousy.we take ours to a collection point, but then we only have two bags
I've tried calling the haulier repeatedly over the years and most times they don't even answer the phone. Messages are never returned.Just call the haulier?
We have never notified BWMB when our wool is ready... just give the lorry driver a call, and he sorts it out

How many ewes? We go to a collection point 3 mile away, there's 3 of us with 500+ ewes and then a few with 1-2 and a few with 6-7. Fill a lorry and drag between us all mind!I've tried calling the haulier repeatedly over the years and most times they don't even answer the phone. Messages are never returned.
that was meant to go on my post to CW but its been a long dayAye, sorry... it's been a long day
That's what happens now in our area now to supply the BWMB's opposition , and if they don't buck up their ideas soon they'll have lost another supplier for next year. How many ewes? October pickup for us.
Have you thought about taking up spinning CW and perhaps Knitting ?
Who's the competition? Do they pay more? That's what happens now in our area now to supply the BWMB's opposition , and if they don't buck up their ideas soon they'll have lost another supplier for next year.
Representing Montgomeryshire or any county for the BWMB is a voluntary position and is not a paid position.I wonder if the wool producers of Montgomery really need a wool board representative or would they just appreciate a higher price enabled by less people on the payroll?
Nothing . They do it so that all wool producers are represented and their views heard in Bradford.Anyone know how much BWMB regional committee members get paid?
Texacloth (consult the great god google for more info.)Who's the competition? Do they pay more?
Not even expenses? Are you sure?Nothing . They do it so that all wool producers are represented and their views heard in Bradford.
