Lean too question

How far can you span clear without a middle support? Would 40ft be possible? Have 20ft eves to start at and the land slopes away from the shed so potential for a decent pitch and still maintain a good height at the lower side.

40’ is no problem if big enough steel used
Recently done one coming off a 20’ high building
To keep low side reasonable height had a 5 degree pitch.

Potentially you’re only governed by the size of the existing stanchion / column and the roof pitch you’re going for but if needs must you could fit another stanchion or double up the existing one. What size is already there
