Having an issue with our combi , when lowering the outer rotor the universal keeps sliding off the shaft .
Have replaced circlip to outer shaft.
Any ideas

The double UJ Is sliding off the shaft? Just looked in the manual. There should be a roll pin on the central horizontal shaft holding it in place but free to slide on the vertical folding shaft. Perhaps the roll pin has broken and it's worked loose?

Thanks , checked , roll pin in place , its sliding off the vertical folding shaft when we fold it out. Wondering if the horizontal shaft is moving ?

I don't know that particular machine but I have taken a Stabilo to pieces and I think they are similar. I think I may have a copy of the Stabilo parts manual somewhere copied before Triple H deleted their online manuals. There may also be shims or a spacer. Has anyone had your implement to pieces and forgotten something when putting it back together?

No not in the time I have owned it , and it is a new problem. I know the outer shaft is retained by a circlip , the inner not sure.

Sounds to me like one of the shafts is moving. Check the position of the UJ with the one on the opposite side to see if they are the same. Could be the shaft moving on the folding section otherwise.

I put a new knuckle joint (UJ) on one side of the Stabilo and as I recall I had to take one end rotor off to get the shaft in. Putting the rotor back on kept the shaft in, I think. One side of the UJ was held in place with a roll pin, the other was able to slide a bit with a Woodruff key in a keyway. Sorry, old age has screwed my memory for more details.

That is correct the outer end slides over a key , and the inner is retained by roll pin. At approx 45 deg of lift we can slip the U.K. On and off the shaft , and when lowering it falls off the outer end.
The outer shaft is retained by a circlip , I suspect inner end is moving , but this should affect the other side ?
Any way as the season is nearly over for us , I have cut the and off an old universal and extended the length of the one that slides off.
Making sure it's not to long and can't bottom on the bearing housing of the outer arm. Seems to be working , but will have to look into main issue, or maybe time to get a new tedder .

Just wondering did you ever come to the end of this? Have the exact same problem on my 2016 one with very little done. Have ripped an awful lot of it but can't see what is wrong with it yet and this is the first post I've found reporting this issue.

Just had this on one of ours if you call me on 07974702956 i can tell you how to fix it ,would take for ever to type what to do

Just getting into mine now , what was the reason you found. Can’t really ring as I am in New Zealand.
Have checked the Center shaft appears in the correct location as does the LH shaft , but the right is short where it passes through the universal , have checked the circlip , is slightly twisted so will replace .

That's interesting. Same machine as mine with the same problem. I think I removed the outer rotor and pulled the shaft out. I got new shims off Ebay. I have some spare somewhere, but they are cheap enough. Best machine I have bought for a long time.

I’ve got a left hand inner rotor stopped turning on my 6 rotor stabilo.
Do you mind if I ring you in the morning to tell me how to get it to bits?
Suspect the pinion has broken the key on the shaft.
Thanks in advance.
