LEMKEN drill

Yes I would say so it’s quite a lift but I worked mine on 220 hp for years with front hopper as well and biggest issue was actually the oil for two fans made it slow to lift on ends just down to flow and that tractor was 130 ltr min pump I am now at 170ltr min and 270 hp and she goes well now

With a 4m folding it’s more the weight than driving it, I use to run a 4m rigid drill on a 6520 (125hp) but when I got a 4m folding (not lemken) I had to up spec the tractor just to pick it up! Now have a 6215r (255hp with boost) on it and I can make that work on heavy ground.

I would think a 200hp tractor should be fine though.

I run a 4m folding combination lemken with 2.5t lemken front press on a John deere 6215r. Plenty of power. Moved the the lower link crossshaft to the shortest holes and it made a lot of difference. I also sometimes run it on a John deere 7230r which is probably better suited. How much front weight do you have?

750kg but I’m guessing that’s not going to be enough?

We don’t have front linkage on the tractor the bit that’s making me think lemken is we have a lot of bad pull outs on to busy roads so not to keen on a front tank.

I had ours on the 7230 last week drilling bird covers with 1t on the front linkage and you wouldn't have been able to put half a tonne of seed in. It is a fantastic drill and we bought it on the grounds of ease of movement. We tried the demo on our 7530 with the jd 900kg big pack weight and the wheels were off the ground with the drill empty. Sorry! I think you will need a front linkage and large weight or press. Attached pic of my setup.

What pressure do you run in your back tyres? Mine always look like they’re flat with the drill on:facepalm:

Used to have mine on a massey 7499 and it was on the limit, needed 2 tonne on the front on our hilly ground to be safe though 1 tonne was fine on less steep ground, Got it on a 7726 now and that's a much better match, full load of seed and full front weight and your just shy of 16 tonne

What size/hp tractor are people using on Lemken 4m folding Combi drills?
We had demo of 4m lemken drill on our JD 7530 and found that it would only lift drill to 94% empty! We decided it was too heavy for the Tractor so waited till we upgraded tractor. Drill now on Fendt 724 with lynx front press.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
