Lexion 430 questions.

I've got a new to me Lexion 430 combine home recently.
Its a tidy old thing but has got a few gremlins I'm working through, and coming from an old Dominator it's a lot different so I've some queries!! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£
1st, On the hydro lever what does the switch on the front of it do?, can't find mention of it anywhere in the manuals. Got the table up/down, reel up/down, in/out, cutterbar on/off sussed but I'm beat with the switch at the front, doesn't seem to do anything

Can't get the auto contour to work, thought it might be the wiring on the cutterbar but, I've been through it and it all tests good, swapped out the potentiometers but it still throws an error and cocks the table to one side. Is there any other known weaknesses before I start investigating further? Do the modules go bad? Or the relays give much bother? Can switch it off if need be I suppose.

The weather/season means our crop isnt fit yet, so still got time to fix it.

Any other words of wisdom very welcome!!!šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

The rocker switch is for the manual adjustment of the auto contour and the vario header if it has one.youā€™ll probably have to calibrate the auto contour on some level concrete. It will tell you in the book how to do it.

As above , it should tilt the table side to side, then there should be another rocker switch that you press and now the same button on the joystick pushes the verified knife in and out if you have a vario header.
There's not a calibration procedure for the auto contour I don't think but the potentiometers each side have adjust on the threads. Are the skid bands fitted both sides? If one isn't on or working it throws the table the one way. Potentiometer are at the bottom inside each end door. The right hand one is guarded well but the left one is abit more prone to be knocked off

You have realised that to set the Autocontour, you set it at the desired height and hold the left hand side of the button for a few seconds, till there is a beep. You can preset two heights like this, and then when you left click the big button it selects the last height used, or click again to select the other preset height.
Handy for dipping down for laid bits, or cleaning out tramlines.

There is a rocker switch for manual adjustment of the auto contour on the console, this one doesn't have vario header so Should the one on the front of the joystick do the auto contour as well?

The bands are fitted and the linkages are free, and both potentiometers read similar on the multimeter.

Yes understand that about setting the height.

This one throws up "ground sensor interupt" when it boots up which to me says a fault of some sort , if you start the cutterbar/mill up the table goes full tilt one way if the auto is switched on in the screen, think it must be either the big plug or wiring on the machine itself as the table wiring seems OK.
Thanks for replies.

The rocker switch may not do anything then if youā€™ve got a switch on the console. If you had a vario header then there is a switch in the console to swap from vario to contour on joystick. Mice can eat the loom in the header or at the back of the mutli connector on the header.

There are 2 different joysticks depending on age,

Treble check for rodent damage especially in the header trunking only a little damage can send everything crazy. The panel on the header to the left of the umbilical plug can be a great mouse hotel. If rewire put everything in blue water pipe they are not as keen at chewing as that.

The bands of underneath pivot on bars which can bend if they have been hit. the band will then stick up and confuse the system

If the table goes full 1 way itā€™s 1 of the bands underneath the bar they are very good when set up but it will need adjusting or youā€™ve got a plug or dodgy wire

Been through the wiring in the header, I know it's a problem area and this one has had the wiring replaced in there already, admittedly not very well, so I re did it as I thought it would be the cause.
Have checked the potentiometers back to the big plug and it all checks out, the resistance varies as you move rhe bands.
The reel speed wiring was butchered too, but it still won't work now its replaced either, not the motor as 12v to it and it works fine. So I think it must be the machine itself that's the issue.
More investigations required!! šŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆ

Mine started a thing this yearā€¦
Auto contour works fine while cutting, but when I lift with the auto contour lift switch (as opposed to the basic up switch) it fully tilts to the left. I have a vague memory of it doing this years ago but I canā€™t remember now.
