Been serious round here today as you've probably seen on the news. We have a stream running through our farm went to check my stock thankfully all Ok noticed neighbours sheep in precarious place and rang he came and drove over stream in his tractor very big one thankfully (I wouldn't have dared) he cut wire to let them out to other field. In nearly 60 years on this farm I have never seen our stream bore absolutely frightening and noisy.

It's been bad for sure.

Hardly had any rain here today.

It's a very similar event to what happened here in 2005.
Massive thunderstorm wiping out roads and bridges.

Sister in law is staying with us at the moment but is supposed to be going home to swaledale tomorrow, she might not be!

If anyone needs any emergency help with stock tomorrow up swaledale let me know

Yet 25 miles away here and it’s been like a summers day!
Same here.
Cloudy at dinnertime, showers from 4pm. ;)
I watched the black clouds travel up the A1 all afternoon.

I
just looked at the today at work thread and oldoaktree spent the day wholecropping
In reality we probably shouldn’t have been on . Few showers on the morning it dried up in the afternoon .
It was a job we got rained off on Friday evening, due to certain circumstances we had to get it done by 3ish yesterday.
It’s a good job we did as we’ve had quite a bit of rain overnight

Between 5pm last night and this dinner time when I checked rain gauge we’d had about 40 mm, swale was close to top of langton bridge about midnight but had dropped this morning. Neighbour had 38 cattle go walkies in the dark and wet last night. But 6 or 7 miles east they were still combining at 11pm last night.

On BBC news this morning from Reeth,, jeeze it looks like a war zone through the guys farm, walls gone, rocks the size of round bales, 80 sheep lost and the rest are free range.
Time this government stopped sending millions abroad to foreign aid and started looking after its own.
I feel gutted for the guy and how many others are in the same mess

Wayley Bridge on the news has been evacuated as the dam wall is badly damaged and more water coming in than drawing of
Whaley Bridge isn't too far from me. Have a few friends who farm there as well, thankfully they are up the hillside a bit from it. The main concerns are the dam wall giving way and flooding the town. But if they open the release valves any more the concern is it will flood towns further down river due to already very high river levels. Really worrying situation, the police and authorities have made the right call to evacuate.

Here we are on the flat lands ,2 inches of rain goes straight through the land round me ,nearest thing to a flood is a blocked drain ,,its hard to imagine what you are coping with
