Light my shed

Hey, Pilgrimmick thanks for your comment. Please don’t be put off by the cost it will be less than you think. This 240W light produces 31,000 lumens approximately equivalent to 22 x 100W bulbs, 8 x 100W Fluorescents, 4 x 100W Metal halides, at least 4 High pressure sodium and 4 x 100W mid-range LED floods. Not only that you have to look at the light spread, depreciation and warranty. The images from Cowcare are Saturns.
Just to say, we use sophisticated light planning software and years of experience to calculate the amount of light required for any given project. These particular lights are one of our top sales as they produce the required amount of light and spread for the money. Lower grade, lower output lights can be used however in our experience it is false economy and will cost more in depreciation, failure rates and consumption. Also to say we have at least 60 years experience between our team and know what works and what doesn’t.

What would you recommend for lighting a small cow byre?
Currently have 2 bulkhead lights which can take up to 100w bulbs but they seem to blow far too often. Budget is minimal ! Shed is used for calving so need zero shadows. Was built to hold 8 cows tied in, now is loosebox with lights positioned 25% or so of the way in from each end.
I'm in Ireland.
Thank you.

The corn lamp range is an easy replacement for 100W bulbs. The 24W is equivalent to 150W standard bulb. If you really wanted to push the boat out then the new 60W Tri-Proofs will replace the bulkheads. 1x 60W Tri-Proof is equivalent to 4 100W bulbs.
You can see all these on the Marketplace. Hope this helps?

Put 4 high quality 50w cool white LEDs(£35) in 120 x 50 dairy cubicle shed gives a much brighter light than the opposite cubicle shed which has 4 double 5ft flourcent tubes.

Rather than start a new thread, any views on LED lighting specs for a 80'x60' two bay grainstore, 7m to eaves. I haven't wired it up yet so can be flexible but was expecting to put pairs of lights near the roof apex on each of the 3 "middle" rafters. A brief look at the @Luxum LED marketplace suggests that the 30W or 50W lights might be good options?

The LuxumFlood range is perfect for grain stores as they have polycarbonate lenses. You could use 2 or 3 x 100W along the ridge. Using 4 x 50W at 2 each side of the ridge would be more flexible and a better spread. We have recently started a sample scheme whereby you can order a sample for a trial. Please note this is not available on the marketplace. Most customers that see the product quality keep them even if they are not suited for that job. http://agriculture.luxum.co.uk/Agricultural-LED-Lighting-Grain-Store-Lights

Corn lamps are very popular for this type of installation, see https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/getting-ready-for-lambing.160822/#post-3541232. These are 100W corn lamps and about every other bay. You could also use our Manor Non Corrosive Fitting https://www.marketplace.farm/farm-w...g/non-corrosive-budget-light-fitting-led-50w/, Just have to double up.

Do you think it is possible to use LED strip to illuminate the barn?
You can do but tubes don’t have good lumen output for cost. Please take a look at this thread, https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/led-lights-quite-pleased-with-my-efforts.261236/. These are Tri proof and top spec. Matt made a terrific job of installation and light placement. There are others like the https://www.marketplace.farm/farm-w...g/non-corrosive-budget-light-fitting-led-50w/ not such a high spec. Just depends on the amount of light you need and what it is for. Just for your interest, we sell far more integral Led units than Battens with tubes if that’s a help.

What holder do you recommend for the corn lamps..... can the big e40 ones fit straight into a sodium light holder?
Some are E27 or E40 you would need to check. If you are thinking of retro fitting please check the Corn Lamp size to ensure it will fit in the enclosure. The high wattage corns are large. All dimensions are on the Marketplace. Hope this is of help.
