thinking about moving lambing shed as noise is horrendous in mornings near our holiday let:banghead:.....looking on fleabay at polytunnels and viewing threads on here....but also saw a firm in newcastle offering 'meccano' like light steel buildings:scratchhead:....this appeals as it must be stronger? plus i could put together in bays so better for round bale feeding than PT?.....anyhoo anyone had any experience?

Tmr feed the sheep then you won't have any noise unless ones lambing might be cheaper than a shed but only a suggestion as not what you asked

Actualy replying to your question we have 2 poly tunnels one is 40ft x100ft and the other a small one can't remember how big. They are great but you have to factor in a sheet every 5 years to be safe and accept they are worthless when your done long term a proper steel shed would be a better bet and more versatile as tunnels can't be used for anything else

Have you a web address for the mecano type sheds, be interesting to have a look!

I have both. Polytunnels are fine but on my exposed hilltop any more than 5 years for a cover and your doing well plus if they do start to go you can lose a whole tunnel overnight. As for meccano I have adapted commercial pallet racking to provide a rigid frame then clad in standard roof tins. The advantage for me was being able to install a mezzanine floor knowing that the pallet racking was designed to hold the weight. Best compromise has been polytunnel frames clad with horizontal tin sheets held on with exhaust clamps.
