10-4 good idea.

JD don't have land drive pto that's true. Dad hired a 3130 from a chap once, which he liked but went for a Case 1056xl when he changed from the MF 290. Together with a new Land Drive spreader it made a superb combination.
From that I assume 1056xl has landdrive ? is it standard with them or an extra ??

Is that spreader just a drag then ? Jd don't have land drive do they ??

Both those spreaders are just little 3 ton Atkinson drags. I believe he now has a LandDrive, but not sure what he's using it behind as I changed supplier this year. The haulier I tried this year tips in the field and sent a contractor with a TM and big LandDrive with a crane. He was going like Hell and I completely failed to get a decent shot of him spreading.

Yes he's fairly traditional that chap. Only time that box has been here, usually he ramp loads straight into the spreader, but we had multiple loads to spread and Bowens had only one truck available.
I use to use an old land-drive bump box as well as loading off the ramps, we then made up a hiab with is own engine to load it off the ground the spreader would sit on the chassis off the hiab for transport much the same as a dump box

used to be outfit just like that around here, it went just about anywhere
I use to drive a 4WD MF 290 Hillside tractor with a spreader like that, duels on the back of the tractor and the spreader, I thought that would go anywhere but the spreader didn't like the one in one slope I drove across and tipped over taking the tractor with it
It hurt

Seem to remember Dad saying something like when the cleats of the rear tractor tyres are flicking at the drawbar, it's plenty steep enough on that side bank! If you were quick though, you could blip the throttle and just flick the land drive in and the spreader would straighten up.......IF you were lucky!

What happens when it goes wrong
It don't look to steep in the pic but it was
if the track hadn't been across the field I wouldn't be here, as it would have just kept rolling till it got to the river
I was in hospital when the pic was taken
I went to have a look when I was a bit better [I have never fully recovered] and realised how stupid I was for driving there
On the plus side we rebuilt the tractor and spreader put a turbo on the old girl to take it over 100hp and got back to work, and I did do steep ground after that but not as steep as that
