We lime sheep pens at lambing time to kill bacteria. Don’t use it for bedding though. What price is it in bulk?

We lime like the sheds before bedding everytime, definitely keeps the sheds dryer and helps stretch straw, we get the 1 ton bags of white rhino lime, thinks it's around 180 euro for the ton bag, use about 2 tons a year

Would be worried about burn from lime if using as a bedding source - good for killing bacteria but also good at killing skin cells as lime is caustic.

Have a look at Pruex https://www.pruex.co.uk/
It looks like magic, but we thought we would give it a go on the water supply, which seems to be working well, then moved on to cubicle bed treatment to replace lime. We have just been using it for a week, so far so good

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
