Just a quick heads up. I went to look at the Limousin cattle at Carlisle yesterday. There were some excellent examples (if you like that sort of thing).

If you have a coffee break today and you are near a laptop, you can watch the sale from 11am on webcam on the Harrison and Hetherington or British Limousin site. You can even bid.

Holly, that's her calf with her. In calf again to Bazadaise, she'll be 3 in April. Walterp would probably say she was small for her age. So what if she is, I know her genetics and she's productive and healthy - and one of the most sensible cows in the herd.

I have 2 ped lims both very short in the leg, but good productive cows. It's only daylight underneath after all!

You can see how wild she is hence the need for the high hurdle to keep her in :whistle:

I ignore all prices over 10k at any sale, it gives you a better idea of prices outwith the "Family"

It's the middle to lower end trade ground counts, not the top. The tops tend to be pass the parcel pedigree men.

I'm sure a there's a lot of that goes on Martin, but I know for a fact genuine high prices happen, I sold a Lim for 13000gns at Carlisle a few years back in the main May sale and I'd not even seen the guy in the pen let alone being in the 'club'...(y)

To be fair, there is so much money from outside farming that it becomes a hobby for some. If money is of no barrier, some will pay ANY price for the right bull.

Some bulls are doped a bit at sales:unsure:. Keeps them quiet. I know someone that the owner offered to load the lim bull in his trailer for him. It was wild when it came out the trailer!

I know they do @Juggler, there are plenty of straight deals done, I know plenty of genuine folks who get good prices, but a lot aren't.

Mid and bottom end trade is more an indicator of commercial demand. Top end is more of a luxury market.

There was one black Galloway bull sold at Castle Douglas to a German buyer for 12,500 gns so you're right, it can happen
