How old would these be A? Lots of the LineOne and some more modern Herefords have brown rings around their eyes. Is this American bloodline influence ?
They were born last may june july , the brown around the eyes is bred for yes , i think they say it lessens chance of eye cancer or something like that but im not entirely sure if im honest , ive plenty with no goggles .

Apologies if it's been covered higher up the thread but do the Line One Hereford heifers go back to a Line One bull?

Yes they do. My lomg term aim os all females line one herefords , bull best cows pure for replacments and the rest with angus or maybe simmy , gives me a marketable bullock calf a marketable heifer calf as a breeder as baldies are getting more popular as a suckler cow , also gives me a hardy durable quiet easy winterd cow at home, but will take many years to change the whole herd .

@Hilly , I like your line about quiet, hardy ,durable.
I was missing the temperament of the Hereford’s when I was tagging one of the blue greys calves last week!
Let’s just say after a quick change of undergarments, I changed my plans, and tagged it in the shed behind a big chuffing gate !!

Remember to wear your brown pants next time 👍. I was quite happy wearing my canary yellow boxers while tagging Hereford calves 😁

Thats what mine are them and cooper, Ervie herefords bring Embryos here. The Holden and copper bull sales are something else ! The money involved over their is stuff we can only dream of .
l was seriously impressed at their operation, really got it down to a fine art.
and xed with AA for 'black baldies' looks to give a very good cow.
Must admit, the hfrd would be my first choice of beef breed. The only problem, with xbred cows, you get a rather mixed muddle of red calves, which don't sell well, whereas AA is more reliable, colour wise. We serve our dairy to AI, for about 4/5 weeks, a mix of dairy, or a double dose of AA and a reliable BB, which we know is easy calving. Stock bulls to run, after AI are hfrds, and we are going to keep the calves, to sell as stores.
One interesting statistic, as we have moved away from xbreds, towards more holstien, we have only had 1 red hfrd calf, out of 25. Different next year, we have at least 60 i/c to hfrd. And, sons friend, is starting up a small herd of ped hfrds, and we will have some input, as to what sire he will use, and bulls will end up here.

@Woolless , my last bluegrey has just calved, and from the safety of 500 yards away , is going motherly bonkers!
You are cordially invited to don your canary under crackers this weekend, and join me in the Oxton version of the Pamplona bull run , the Bluegrey coo dodging calf tagging rodeo !
Kindly sponsored this year by Persil !😂
I thought a horseman of your skill would have one of your cuddies trained for this type of situation, offering to give the cow both barrels while you get busy with the taggers 👍. There's a video of a cowboy's horse doing exactly this on YouTube somewhere. I thought it was brilliant! I think @Poorbuthappy may have posted it?
