How would you manage not to be tormented by the £600k you have wasted over the last 10 years..

Waste is a strong word, it's not a system one can just automatically switch to as it requires balls and some confidence in the job. Direct drilling (granted strictly speaking a claydon isn't absolute no-till) also has pitfalls, like people doing it when it's just too wet.

I'm convinced it is the way forward for many, particularly now OSR is disappearing. I never liked the crop much anyway. As you say the potential savings are big and long term it is much kinder to your dirt.

As for CMax’s yield impact, I don’t think it did. It made the crop look pretty yellow for a few months, but the ‘boll’ numbers were the same and the yield wasn’t notably impacted.

They are very low.

When I started out with the system I was getting through three times the number of A shares that I am now. I’m not sure if the metal is now better than it was, or my soils are less harsh now, but I can now go for days with the same shares. Back in 2015 it was nearly a set per day.

Just over 40 ha per set of A shares down here before they get too narrow for cereals. They are then used for osr/forage crops. Those flints of yours must be getting softer!
Winter linseed here coming up. Cant remember the variety, on a seed contract. Will look at the sowing rate and see if it heavy enough
