Depends on the job? I suggest though if farm subs go a large paycut or p45 for farm workers will be inevitable??
When subs go farm worker wages will not drop ( in fact farming is one of the lowest wage industry's already )

Yes there will be a lot of job losses when subs go and that will be both farm workers/ farmers/ and people who's jobs are dependant on trade from the farming industry @Janet Hughes Defra

Livestock farming will come under alot of pressure in next 10-20 years i believe.

Its not ao much what the majority of voters want it what swing voters want, people who demand and promise there vote.

Just becuse they going to get arable to add in Livestock does not mean that will be the income source, it will meat a biodiversity scheme.

They are already saying over here that Australian farmers will.win from all of this, and that may be true until it catches on here, by then i hope to have other farming options in place but will keep a flock to manage grazing etc, weird world we live in.

Ive been wondering lately if ailiens came to earth and we said we eat animals, how would thie be viewed? Yes weve dkne it forever but what if you were feom a planet with no good animals to eat and you were all plant based etc.

If it vice a versa i think we would all freak out.

And segments of society are easily persuaded with money these days.

Dairy i think will also get hard hit, the vast majority do not know the calves are taken from there moms and in many cases killed, they will ban that it, but wont be long until it all comes under pressure.

And how many farming bodies in uk and oz are on the front foot woth any of this....answer is zero.

Say they eat nothing but animals and they saw us digging stuff out the ground and eating it, be enough to make them go home I would think or eat us perhaps.

Of course on the other hand they may come from a planet where the strong eat the weaker inhabitants of their planet as some animals such as large cats & crocs etc do here, they might jump for joy & think they've found a brand new source of luxury assorted food, Chinese & Indian live ready meals etc.
Why would you assume they are plant eaters.

Im not im just saying what if they were...and the question obviously begs what subs are they getting....

Anyone against subs to uk farmers has a chip on their shoulder and doesnt have UK farming in their best interests ive learned that over the years
That seems a very broad brush approach to farming and subsidies. I am sure there are UK farmer's who are keen to make a go of it without government intervention. My thoughts are that it should be the right support in the right place at the right time.

If they were plant eaters they wouldn’t have had the mental capacity to work out how to get off their own planet.

James Rebanks was quite entertaining in his assessment of ELMS this morning, pointed out the environmental own goal of folks intensifying in the uplands to compensate for loss of income.
Well thats obvious is it not? Ill be upping cows and renting all the ground i can get if they go ill have no choice but to massively increase turnover to make the same profit, despite some heros on here claiming they dont need it they will all make much less profit without it FACT, so to maintain profit everyone will need to expand, ill also be ripping all my dykes and hedges out to increase efficiencies

Be a pretty expensive job filling up all the ditches and re-piping them/connecting up to current drainage systems. I think you’re being a bit hysterical.

The only way that would make sense is if the rents would become virtually pepper corn or the margins increased on the basis of lower costs/higher sale value - which according to you neither will happen .

I will be corrected but as Bossfarmer is located in Scotland, somewhere north Perth shire at a guess, a dyke is I think the colloquial term for a earth bank dividing fields, not a water carrying ditch. As I was born and bred in the Fens below sea level this misappropriation of the term 'dyke' caused me much trouble in my younger years when I worked for a Scotsman. Let alone the political correctness and damage to the mental health of the LGBQT+ community.

PS - am also married to a lass from Lanark. So even more peculiar Scottishness has affected me over the years!!!
