Nice looking bull but I think you might struggle with that cross I’m sorry to say. A relative of mine used that cross for years ( he bred blonde bulls), he’s changed to Angus cows because the calves grew and grew but wouldn’t get fit. His bulls were killing into Dawn 14 months old or so, 450+ kg, E and U 1/2. Too big and too lean. His Angus bred calves are much better he says.New stock bull arrived - dark coloured Blonde d'aquitaine to go across blue x cows

Yes think I'm going to ring all male calves for that reason and feed alongside my bulls so will hopefully come fitter. He's a fairly fleshy example of the breed not the real hard as nails type. I've got some blonde x blue cows that throw good calves back to the lim so will keep some back if not too wild.Nice looking bull but I think you might struggle with that cross I’m sorry to say. I think he's a bit easier fleshed than some but time will tell. It's a bit of a trial really, a cross I've wanted to try for ages but finally getting enough numbers that if it doesn't work out it's not the end of the world .
I changed from blonde's because i either had belters or poor sorts, nothing much inbetween. I heard people saying they were to lean and then when i didnt have any blonde calves to sell buyers were asking wheres those belting blondes you used to sell.Yes think I'm going to ring all male calves for that reason and feed alongside my bulls so will hopefully come fitter.
