Great to seeall these breeds.

Unfortunately we get raped in oz if it aint angus, herefords and speckles do sell at auction but can be fair discount and last week i seen 520kg hereford steers passed in and angus same weight sold to strong competition.

Question, do you guys sell steers/hiefers direct to processor where carcasses is graded and priced or sell through marts?? And do you get a fair price compared to mainstream breeds?

All i buy is angus or angus hereford, red angus if cheap, and im no angus fan lol...id much rather red devons etc.

180 to load out in the morning, whizzed them through tonight to wand their tags

107 away Tuesday morning, 160 fat cattle away later in the week.

heifers aren't looking too bad, easy work for the next few weeks. Should have 800+ calves coming down plus empty cows and some finishing cattle, dry up on the cow farm. Making a bit of room now makes sense as we were offered pretty silly money for the steers

In a few years when all farm infrastructure done, id like to shift to breeders and finish steers and some heifers, theyd have to go over the grid at processor, problem is in oz 450kg cattle for feedlot sell for just as much as fat cattle...the feedlotters buy 2 colours from southern half of Australia, black angus and black angus.

They are very well behaved, little bit of anxiety after being yarded and drafted by people they don't know well, but I have to have cattle that come to my call.

You could easily lose half of them behind a rock, if they wanted to be evasive!

Having an eye in the sky is helpful

If they didn't make a mess in the fields they would be outside but this year is a bit different, gives an old man something to do during the night watching them.
