Today’s issue, blow out M6SB.

That little bit sticking out in slow lane cost me £3k in statutory tow fee from Highways agency. £3k to go 3 miles, then get swapped to insurance co’s tow truck, which was there the whole time, but not allowed to hook on!

Highways agency wouldn’t allow it. Insurance Co had rung the Highways agency at the start to tell them when their tow truck would be there, and to say they needn’t send theirs, but that wasn’t allowed either!

Having stumbled across this thread a few weeks ago I’ve spent all of my spare time looking through all the posts on it.

Speaking of distractions, any word on the beloved, Pete?

Yes, head returned, no problems and I’m having a new set of studs and nuts made by a historic vehicle rebuild specialist from down that there London Town.

I’ve also spoken to a chap who used to run over 100 AEC trucks moving fresh produce from Lincs down to London. He gave me much the same advice as you very helpfully did a while ago and added that one of the thermostats may be lagging and causing an over heat in the front head which isn’t detected by the temperature sender on the back of the engine.

Hopefully get her back together next week.
