For a reliable, conscientious and knowledgeable company to maintain Biomass boilers in the South/Southeast
Tough one there!
My reaction to that is DIY, do it yourself.
99% of all biomass boiler maintenance is just a cleaning exercise.
Too many people (companies) make out it's a complex and difficult job only for professional factory trained operatives.
Froling tell you how to maintain the whole boiler in their manual.

I suppose if the boiler is of poor design, then maybe maintenance might well be more difficult. Perhaps, I don't know...

I was led to believe but could be completely false, you will need to sumbit evidence of a boiler service yearly as part of your RHI. You are supposed to keep records now but submission of these records is apparently coming in, i believe this also has to be done proffesionally and not in house.

Yes I think you maybe right on that one.
I was lucky enough to be taken to the factory in austria and trained by the manufacture, so I got a cert from them to cover me on this.
Not sure whether you need an external company to give you a certificate that it's been maintained or not to satisfy ofgem, but records do need to be keep.
I'm not an expert on ofgem, so someone else would need to confirm this.

if you get chosen for an inspection you will need proof of servicing , they are still doing inspections and because there are not as many registrations now they have more time to do inspections,

I've worked with Dunster Biomass for annual and 6 monthly servicing of 2 x 200kW wood chip boilers. They also provide really good remote support and try to avoid unnecessary site visits.
