Looking for some woodland to rent or buy

Hi there, I am looking to rent or buy some woodland for my events business. Ideally it would be 2+ acres located in the south-east, south-west or central UK. At this stage I would consider all options. I would also appreciate any advice as to how to locate such land and get in front on landowners that would like to diversify. Please feel free to get me on here or at [email protected]
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Rob

I have a few acres left in South West Hertfordshire; it's mixed wood, predominating beech with a mainly hazel understory. I'd be reluctant to have people in there en masse while the blue bells are flowering and seeding, but outside that period it could be a goer.

The obvious question is, what sort of events, i.e. doing what and in what sort of numbers?

Thank you so much for the reply. The events business would cater for weddings, parties as well as being an outdoor educational centre for schools. The core idea is eco friendly and allowing people to enjoy the outdoors and have their wedding/party in the surroundings of a forest. We have a 4 year business plan to build the business slowly and in keeping with the surroundings. We are also looking into new innovative tech and working practices to make this a truly unique and eco friendly venue. The numbers would grow organically as the business built up but we would look to carter for 200 people in the beginning. I hope this answers your questions and I hope to hear from you soon. Best wishes, Rob

Thanks for that, very interesting. I don't think my bit has sufficiently large spaces between the trees or would survive the footfall you intend and - being rather sentimental about it, which is why I have kept it - I'd rather not see it damaged.

However, thinking on what you intend, you may be best off in approaching an estate - they are always looking to maximise return on every asset and the managers are rarely as sentimental as me. I'd advise having some area - both overall and for venues / marquees - and access requirements ready, and then make some approaches. One place that springs to mind is the Ashridge Estate behind Berkhamsted, quite a large area of mixed woodland with good access, worth a try. Good luck.

Thank you so much and thanks for the advice. It is lovely to hear that you are sentimental about you woodland, make sure it gets the love it deserves in the future. We will take your advice and step up our approaches to larger estates.
Thank you!
Rob
