Was lovely on Friday and Saturday. Abysmal today. Sigh.
It will. Annual TFF drought thread will re-appear by early MayI thought I read somewhere that El Niño ends in April. I hope so or I’m getting a different job. Arable farming is becoming a pointless exercise here.
Us and all my neighbours down here are planning on drilling as much spring barley as soon the weather changes, can see straw being major shortages with sfi & weather issuesEvery chance a ton of straw will cost more than a ton of wheat
So looks like it could be over by April. That makes this cropping year a write off but hopefully things will improve for harvest and beyond. I think people seriously underestimate the impact this year will have on our industry. It will undoubtedly drive us towards greater uptake of SFI than anybody anticipated and reduce production to record lows. Government seems to be in denial or ignorance. What are El Niño and La Niña, and how do they change the weather?
Global temperatures and rain patterns are affected by a climate phenomenon known as El Niño/La Niña.www.bbc.co.uk
2018 was the easiest harvest I can remember. You could go any day of the week of your choosing and it was all dry. Bliss and so easy.It will. Annual TFF drought thread will re-appear by early May
Driest year recently was 2018. Remember sowing round wet bits when it dried up in late April followed by best 16-17 month spell of weather I can remember.

Intentionally? Or in a @spin cycle kind of a fashion?
