We probably will, switched maize for spring barley last minute. That was the price quoted at the time
Are they still going ? We had one many years ago my old man bought it at a farm sale to cut thistles etc, certainly chopped them up but it took some driving in patches of old dead grass,

Drove down to Lincoln today. Hardly a crop to be seen that looks even half decent. Very little fertiliser been applied. Wheat thin and patchy. Some OSR about but looks poor and big bald patches. Untouched stubbles, min tilled land and ploughing still glistening with standing water. What a mess. It’s a write off year in the main around here. There’s still a little potential if things perk up but I’d say it’s going to be one of the smallest harvests I’ve ever known. Not deliberately trying to be gloomy. It’s just how it is unfortunately.
It's a once in a lifetime year , least I hope so .

I'll look at beef & lamb prices to lift my mood.
No mercy with the straw next year they can afford it.
I have problems now , can get straw but will they pay for it

Lamb and cull ewe prices have been excellent and so far this season they’ve been a lot easier to deal with than the arable. I say that but we haven’t actually done anything in an arable field for 5 months now. It’s the frustration that wears me out. And now about a month behind with fertiliser applications. No sprays been applied except for one dose of minerals in one Sandy field. At least costs have been low!
