Would anyone have a rough idea what rear diff ratio would be on an easily available rear axel off a tractor unit ? Something like a 420 scania or Volvo . I’ve have a idea for a project but need to know this info before I can go any further .

Have a look on here, unfortunately a lot of different ratios are available. I remember the Williams Haulage drivers commenting that their flatbeds on Ifor Williams delivery work were fitted with a Coach diff fir fuel economy due to running very light loads.

could be any thing a 4.88 is common or some would run a 5.29 depends on what you are wanting to do , you can buy any ratio you like if you use Rockwell or ZF or mec

There is a land drive slurry tanker local to me that has a daf lorry axle on it. They kept the old 6 speed gear box and drive shaft on it, and run it in 3rd gear
