LPG Gas Pipe Extension DIY

The cooker runs off a pair of 14kg propane bottles sited outside against the wall. I want to move the cylender thirty feet further away round the corner out of sight. Had a quote for £250 labour plus materials, hence posting here.

Is it possible to cut into the 15mm above ground copper pipe, put a thirty foot flexi hose into the gap now created leading it round the corner and connect the other end of the flexi hose to the other end of the 15mm pipe. Basically I just want to insert a length of thirty foot flexible hose into the 15mm line of copper pipe.
If it's not possible to use flexi steel pipe then it will mean fitting 30ft rigid 15mm copper pipe.
Either way could you give me idiot proof step by step instructions showing materials needed and how to connect up. I'm a good hand at messing around with blue water pipe but I'm sure there are better ways to spend £250.
TIA.

I’m sure you could prepare the base for cylinders, dig the trench, lay the lpg pipe, sand bed it, lay marker tape and reinstate etc yourself then get the relevant person to connect up, test and tick off a bit cheaper.

It is certainly possible. Just remember to specify top or bottom bunk when you are locked up because it has gone wrong. :)

Work in the gas industry and have many horror stories of things that have gone wrong. It it really worth it?

I'll break ranks! It's not that hard to have a go..... some yellow plastic coated copper pipe, compression fitting or two along with some jointing compound.........

I'd do it.

I'm assuming I cut into the green coated 15mm pipe, rub off the coating and connect on with compression fittings. Would you use ptfe or jointing compound?

As far as I know it’s not illegal to do the job on your own property, as it’s not “work”. However if it’s not done correctly and goes wrong then you’ll be in trouble. Why would you risk it, shouldn’t cost mega money to have it done by a gas safe registered engineer.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
