Lush spring barley

Plenty of spring barley to cut here in my bit of Dorset. Some isn’t ripe yet. Planet stood well apart from fertiliser overlaps. Some of my Laureate went down in early July even though it has only had 125 kg/ha N. It was drilled quite thick though.

Ive a trial field with laureate, diablo and scholar side by side all had 120 units of N. Diablos went down, which probably means its highest yield too, so make of it what you will. Scholar left, diablo middle, laureate right.

I guess many in the south are harvested already but how has everyone’s spring barley beared up to the past weeks weather?

Mines coped well until yesterday. Bits under trees and anything that’s had an overlap of fert on the headlands looking a bit tousled this morning.
So glad I put the Cerone on. Dread to think what it would look like otherwise.
More thunder storms forecast this afternoon though and still a good fortnight until harvest.

Mind is on the lean and bent over but thankfully not flat. Be glad when I can get it scooped up though.

One field was cut pre the storm and was stood fine.

Another field is so far ok but it’s sheltered on 3 sides from the wind.

Last two fields were flat before the weather arrived....

Laureate pretty flat here.., went down about 2 week ago. Last night hasn’t done it anymore favours. Was about a week off ready before the 60mm of rain in the last two day’s..
