we had a neighbour, who would only buy game cover maize, and drilled after contractors had finished the 1st cut, all round, cheaper to drill, and would throw a wobbly, if badgers hit over a few stalks, had, had to be cut, then !!! never understood why the cows didn't milk like other farmers, oh, fert was to dear, would never pay to use.

Finished chopping today and very happy, averaged 15 to 16 tons at 32%dm.

Glad to have it out of the way.

Good crops overall but a massive weed burden underneath from poor pre emergence performance.

Chopped short and mulled very tightly amazing how much you get in the trailers.

Absolutely top job done by the lads on the clamp.

Got to be happy with that?! Looks good, out of interest what tonnage/dry matter do you get/used to get when you were on wholecrop? Take it there’s no comparison to feeding maize hence you’re growing it?

I’d be happy with the “weed burden” heifer and dry cow feed.
