Man killed in collision between motorbike and JCB

A man in his 60s was killed in a collision between a motorbike and a JCB telehandler in Antrim over the weekend, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed.

The man has been named locally as David Gerard Edwards, according to police.

In a brief statement on the incident, a spokesperson for the PSNI said:

“Police can confirm that the man who died following the two-vehicle road traffic collision at the Lany Road in Moira, was 60 year old David Gerard Edwards from the Aghalee area.”

Sergeant Mackenzie said:

“At around 3:20pm on Saturday afternoon, it was reported that a yellow JCB telehandler vehicle and a red Ducati motorbike were involved in the collision.

“The motorcyclist sadly passed away at the scene following the incident.

“Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or why may have dash-cam footage available, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1185 of 03/04/21,” the sergeant said.
