Manitou loft ram split

Not mine, just seen on Twitter, pretty sure I’ve heard of manitou rams splitting before. Maybe on here. Not good though, they don’t make the rams but surely after a certain amount of time they should be checked irrelevant of brand.

i could be wrong BUT i actually think these Manitou rams are made right here in the UK:X3:?

No idea, I’ll put it across to them. You would think they would have a thicker wall on them. I’ve had a few repaired and see the wall thickness is frightening. 4mm-6mm [emoji15]

Its not so much the wall thickness thats the problem IMO, the cracks always start near where the pipe is welded in, which is right next to the end of the threads for the end cap, they undercut the tube when they finish the thread which weakens it! any i have repaired they dont undercut it and they never failed yet. Some i have had made with a thicker wall though but you cant always do that.

We replaced main lift ram on ours a couple years back. As it was turning into a sieve. Reckoned it was better replaced before that happened.
