Its been a while but will come out, you have to remove the brackets along the side of the transmission and Jack the whole lot up till linkages are touncing the cab then remove engine bolts and slide back and up at the same time. Use a block and tackle or something to give inching control

I am not disputing what you say but how does bigger halfshafts fit in trumpet housing

It's all different! But on first glance looks the same.
Half shaft I had snap must have been 3" plus dia. Took it to a local IH specialist and every thing used he had off tractors was alot smaller dia! He worked it out as some industrial skid unit but parts obsolete. Manitou happened to have one in stock though just over £900 plus vat so customer bought that. More than his machine was worth really?‍♂️ it was a right nail?

Has any one replaced a clutch on a manual manitou mb25 ,looks like you have to move the axle back to get the engine out
I had a Manitou MB25P. Changing the clutch was an annual event, but quite easy. You need to lift the sliding Counterweight off to get the engine out and away from the Clutch bell housing.

It was an IH 444 skid unit with a Perkins 4.236 engine, using a very large flywheel on the engine to marry up with the clutch and gearbox. Being a shuttle gearbox, it was very vicious on the clutch, especially if you got into the habit of changing direction whilst still on the move.

Manitou wanted to sell you their clutch, which was exactly the same but more than twice the price of an IH one. The cover plate and friction plate are the same as those fitted in the IH 84 series tractors.

The friction plate did vary during the years as to how many Ferro-metallic paddles it had.
But it made no difference as to how long the clutch would last, because they had a nasty habit of eating into the Flywheel, which would need skimming every time and replacing every 3 times. Again this is an IH part used when they fitted the Perkins engines in one of the earlier tractors.

As long as you have another loader to lift the counterweight off and the engine out and have prearranged to get the flywheel skimmed locally and got the cover and friction plate ready, you can do the whole job in a day quite easily.
