Suggest you only use genuine Manitou Hoses - check with a good construction Manitou dealer in case there are any mods or updates for your serial no. - as ace says - pull out the back with the usual rope going in the front - if you have an old established Manitou Construction Dealer locally - suggest you get a price for the job from them.

looked at a drawing, its not like other machines, the R series is full of sensors and stuff, i dont know these models at all, but it looks to me like the boom are controlled by the sensors? if there not coming out in the right sequence that may explain why your pipe ripped off that or you didn't fit it right?

You really need to get some one out to it that has worked on them before and knows what to do with it.

Working on theses latter (from 08 onwards ) Privelige Models for anything to do with Booms is essential you use an old established Manitou Construction Dealer - not many left - not sure where you are in the country but here are a few Wiltshire TH White Construction Division, Scotland A T Best, Midlands Mawsley Machinery, Yorkshire Hessle Plant or any Long Established Dealer that supplies Quantitys Of Machines To Plant Hire Companies- the Early MT1840 (before Chain Boom) were horrendous - 8,000 repair bill and failed again 6 weeks latter were some of the many horror stories - by comparison the MT1440 and Mt1436 were very good. Any dealer in the know won't touch early MT1840 as part exchange unless it has had a Chain Boom Fitted,.L ike so many machines from JCB & Manitou now - take it to you local dealer and get a quote for repair.
